CHARLOTTE CLINKSCALE

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven ~Ecclesiastes 3:1~ A Time to be Born: On March 29, 1935, Charlotte I. Bellamy Clinkscale was born in Alexandria, Virginia, the seventh born of nine children to the late Lottie Burke and Samuel Leroy Bellamy. A Time to Build: Charlotte completed her elementary and secondary education in Arlington County Public Schools at Kemper Elementary and Hoffman Boston Junior High. She graduated from Francis High School, currently Brown Junior High in Washington, DC. Charlotte was recognized as a loyal and trustworthy employee while she worked for the U.S. Capitol Cafeteria, and the District of Columbia Public Schools where she served as a nurse’s aide until her retirement in 2000. A Time to Plant: Charlotte was raised in a Christian home and she confessed Christ and was baptized at an early age. She joined Macedonia Baptist Church in 1939 under the late Reverend Sherman Phillips where she served faithfully as a member of the Junior Choir. She remained a member of Macedonia Baptist Church until she joined Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in 2009 under Reverend Dr. Larry Phillip McCray. In 2020, Charlotte remained a member of Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church under Reverend John Sawyer. A Time to Love: Charlotte was truly devoted to her family. Her sons and grandchildren were her priority. She held a very close relationship with her siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws. A Time to Laugh: Charlotte was such a joy and inspiration to her family and neighbors. She had a charming personality and a lively sense of humor. Aunt Charlotte, as she was fondly known by many, was very maternal and lovingly supported her nieces and nephews as if they were her own children. She loved to travel and enjoyed social functions, especially Family Reunions and cookouts. Charlotte also enjoyed several hobbies such as watching wrestling, crocheting, baking cakes, shopping, and dancing…she loved good music. Charlotte was a woman who was outgoing and forthright. She was very welcoming to anyone who entered her home as she enjoyed visitors and often showed much compassion and kindness toward others. A Time to Die: On Friday, October 11, 2024, God called Charlotte Home to join those who have gone to their Heavenly Rest before her. She was predeceased by her parents, Lottie Burke and Samuel Leroy Bellamy; her beloved son, Thomas C. Moran; her sisters, Cecilia Blue, Rosetta Bellamy Gatewood, and Julia Elizabeth Bellamy Jones; and brothers, William Blue, Robert Blue, Wilbur Bellamy, and Samuel L. Bellamy, Jr. A Time to Mourn: She leaves to cherish her beautiful memories, two loving sons, Robert L. Bellamy and Julian E. Bellamy; three grandchildren, Robert L. Bellamy II (Cathy), Taneshia Bellamy, and Tamia Moran; three great-grandchildren, Olivia Bellamy, Yazi Berg, and David Sydnor, V.; brother, Werten Bellamy (Phyllis); sister-n-law, Hattie Bellamy; a host of other relatives and caring friends; and her walking buddy (a Yorkie) Zuko Bellamy. Aunt Charlotte will be missed by all who knew and loved her, but we will not mourn as those without Hope, because we are confident that she is at Peace.
