Gloria Lewwis

With love and gratitude for a life well-lived, we celebrate Gloria Yvette Lewis aka "Peanut", who passed away on February 25th, 2026 at only 57 years old. Gloria was born on May 4th, 1968 at District of Columbia General Hospital to her parents Anne Hoosin and Melvin Alfonzo Lewis Sr. By weighing only a pound and a half, her nickname "Peanut" came into the world with her. She was raised in the close-knit communities of North Brentwood and Mount Rainier, Maryland, where she developed a deep appreciation for family, friendship and community. She attended Prince George's Public Schools and graduated from Northwestern High School. Throughout her career, she held several clerical and administrative positions where her organization, reliability, and friendly demeanor made her s valued colleague, especially during her tome working at the ' University of Maryland in College Park. Her dedication and strong work ethic earned the respect of those alongside, and she took pride in doing her job well. Before passing away , she was enrolled in University of Phoenix aspiring to get a certification to do medical coding and billing. Gloria will always be remembered for her kindness, style, strength, resilience, humor, generosity and independence. She loved gogo music, hanging out with friends, traveling, cooking and having a good time! She had an adventurous personality and a warm spirit , and she never hesitated to strike up a conversation-she could talk to anyone and often did, leaving people smiling whatever she went. Above all else, her daughter, Briana, was the love of her life and greatest pride and joy. Although she struggled with may hardships and lifestyle obstacles. She raised her daughter with unconditional love and compassion. She celebrated Briana's accomplishment s wholeheartedly, especially achievement of graduating to become a Registered Nurse. One of her most cherished memories was taking a birthday cruise with Briana, a special time filled with laughter and unforgettable moments together. Her vibrant personality, loving heart and joyful spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She was preceded in death by both parents, Anne Hoosin & Melvin Lewis Sr., her siblings, Beverly Hoosin and Melvin Lewis Jr., her aunt Sadie Hammond. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her only daughter Briana Lewis, fiancee Bernard Douglass, sister Twana Johnson, nieces Sherice Gerado & Deyonka Scott, nephews Derrick E Scott, nephews Derrick E Scott Sr and Paul Johnson Sr. and many extended family members and close friends who will keep her love alive. Though she is no longer with us, her love, wisdom and spirit will remain in our hearts forever. Rest beautifully Gloria, we love you.
