JAMES E JONES

James Edward Jones Sr affectionately known as Jimmy to family and friends born June 2, 1946 and called home to rest Nov 30,2024 at VA Medical Center. He was the son of Mazie Green and James Henry Jones. Jimmy was born in Washington, DC and educated in Prince Georges Public schools. Jimmy met and married Priscilla Ann Brown on June 14, 1969 from this union came four children. Jimmy, enlisted in the Army Nov 30,1967 and was honorably discharged on Nov 28, 1969 as a Sergeant. He received several medals from the National Defense Services, Combat Infantryman Badge, Vietnam Service medal, with 2 Bronze service stars, Republic of Vietnam campaign Medal; sharpshooter (rifle). James was employed at the Library of Congress for over 20 plus years. He loved and cared for his family and friends whom he loved to play pranks and jokes on to bring laughter specially, his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Once he made a friend out of you, you were friends forever. He enjoyed bowling, skating, horseback riding, playing cards, playing his numbers and watching his number one football team The Washington Commanders, The Nationals, The Wizards and his old western’s programs. He soon received the title The Mayor of Edgewood. He loved his Edgewood community and was actively involved in various events and activities. He frequently was accused of cheating while playing cards and taking old people’s money. He became friends with the council member at Large Mr. Kenyan Mcduffie and Robert (Bob) King working with the seniors. Jimmy was preceded in death by his mother Mazie Green, his father James Henry Jones, Priscilla Jones (ex-wife), David Barnes(brother), Tawana (Tweedy Barnes) Jackson (sister), Rodney Barnes (brother) Lewis Barnes (brother). He leaves to cherish his memories of his four children: Veleda Jones, Charnita Jones, Keya Jones and James Jones Jr (Kristy). His Grandchildren: Ashley Ross (Rickshawn) Jasmine Jones, Bryant Jones, Terrell Jones, Tony Jones, Isaiah Johnson, Corryne Jones, Micah Jones, Aryanna Jones. Seven Great Grandchildren: Semaj, Dashon, William, Carter, Yasir, Ohnri and Lyric. Two sisters: Edith Jones and Jacqueline Barnes. And a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
