November 21, 1942 - October 13, 2021
On Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at home with her family by her side, God in his mercy called his daughter Ella from labor to reward. Ella D. Andrews, “Blue”, was born November 21, 1942, in Warrenton, North Carolina to the late Maggie L. and George Z. Davis. Blue was educated in the Public School System of Warren County, where she graduated from John R. Hawkins High School, Warrington, NC. At an early age, Blue accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at Shocco Chapel Baptist Church. Following graduation from high school, she briefly relocated to New York City. Following her brief stay in New York, Blue moved to Washington, DC in 1962, and began working as a civilian contractor for The U.S. Air Force Publication Division. Blue’s career path moved on in 1968 to the Government Printing Office where she remained until her retirement. She was known for her outstanding her work ethic. During her time in Washington, DC, she was an active member at New Macedonia Baptist. On February 20, 1965, Blue married Reginald “Willard” Andrews, her high school sweetheart. To this union one daughter was born, Wanda (Andrews) Saunders. After relocating back to Warrenton, NC in 1985, she worked as an activity bus driver and served as foster parent to numerous children. At that time, she reunited with Shocco Chapel Baptist Church where she served as an active member of The Pastor’s Aid Society and the Building Fund Committee.
