Mr. Hammond Alexander Fisher Jr.

November 15, 1959 - June 7, 2020

It is with extreme heartache that we announce the passing of HAMMOND ALEXANDER FISHER, JR. He was born on November 15, 1959 and died on June 7, 2020. Hammond was affectionately known to his family as Mark. Mark graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and enlisted in the Army shortly after high school. After seven years in the Army he was discharged under honorable conditions in 1987. He was proud of serving his country and shared stories of his adventures with family and friends. As a civilian, Mark was employed with the District of Columbia government as an EMS Operator. He later took another position with the District as a Correctional Officer. He spend his later years working as a construction laborer until he was unable to work. Mark was a devoted father and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his family, making people laugh heartily, and preparing special dishes during holiday gatherings. He was preceded in death by his parents. Hammond Alexander Fisher, Sr., and Delores Juanita Fisher and five brothers, Michael Hammond Fisher, Tyrone Weston, Daniel Parker, Gregory Fisher and Charles Fisher. He is survived by his daughter, Tia Fisher, son, Hammond Burrus and two grandchildren, Ti'Andre Jamerson and Ty'Leah Jamerson. He is also survived by three siblings, Shelore I. Fisher (Daniel), Collettte Fisher Fullard (Herman) and Darryl Fisher (LaQawnda); one uncle, Nathaniel Douglas (Paula), dozens of nieces and nephews; along with a host of other family members and friends. The family of Mark will host a small, private service due to the COVID-19 health crisis. We thank you for your outreach of love and support.
