THERESA JACOBS

On Sunday, July 18, 2026, our hearts were saddened as we said goodbye to our beloved Theresa Jacobs. Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we are deeply grateful for the love, strength, and countless memories she leaves behind. Theresa was born on April 13, 1965, in Washington, D.C., to the late Sara and Willie Jacobs. Raised in the nation’s capital, she attended local schools, built lifelong friendships, and remained fiercely proud of the city she always called home. Theresa shared a loving partnership with the late Cornell Abney, and together they welcomed their beloved son, Cornell Jacobs, who was the absolute pride and joy of her life. Family meant everything to Theresa. She cherished every opportunity to gather, laugh, and create lasting memories with those she loved most. She had a deep passion for music and loved singing along to her favorite songs. Whether playing bingo, watching movies, or simply sharing a laugh, Theresa embraced life with a warm spirit that brought instant joy to those around her. She will forever be remembered for her caring heart, quiet strength, resilience, warm smile, and the unconditional love she gave so freely. Theresa leaves to cherish her precious memory, son: Cornell Jacobs, daughter-in-law: Samantha Jacobs, grandchildren: Avery Jacobs, Cody Jacobs, and Colin Jacobs, who brought immeasurable joy to her life. Siblings: Willie "Man" Murphy, Barbara Ann Jacobs, Ronnie Jacobs, and Anthony Jacobs. She is also lovingly survived by a host of devoted nieces, nephews, great nieces, great-nephews, cousins, extended family members, lifelong friends, and all whose lives were blessed by knowing and loving her. Theresa was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Sara and Willie Jacobs; her longtime partner, Cornell Abney; and her dear brothers, Jerry L. Jacobs, Robert Lee Jacobs, and Larry Jacobs. Although our hearts ache in her absence, we find comfort in knowing that the love Theresa shared will remain with us forever. Her legacy lives on through her family, the cherished memories she created, and the countless lives she touched with her kindness and compassion. Her love, laughter, and beautiful spirit will continue to inspire all who knew her.
